Puntney Show Pigs is located in Lodi, Wisconsin. The owner of the farm Glenn Puntney started his farrowing operation in 1983. In 2002, he shifted his focus to his passion for breeding and raising show pigs.

Over the years (and with his family’s help), the farm has grown into a 40 sow operation. Glen, and his eldest son Riley, carefully choose the genetics of each animal

Riley specializes in the genetic advancement of show pigs. He also helps Glen to oversee the daily task of managing the herd.

Glen’s youngest son, Cody takes care of the farm’s Customer Service and helps in the day-to-day farm operation. Glenn’s wife, Pamela helps with farrowing and marketing.

The farm mainly breeds Berkshire and Crossbred pigs, producing healthy, and well-balanced females in its sow herd. 

The show pigs of this farm have won some of the more prestigious events in the US, including Wisconsin State Fair Open Show (2021), Columbia County Fair 2021 (WI), Dane County Fair 2021, Platte County Fair (NE) 2021, and many more.

3. Schulz Show Pigs

Located in Dalton, Wisconsin, Schulz Show Pigs was set up in 1999.

Owners Loretta and Bruce Schulz always dreamt of owning a show pig herd and started the farm’s operation after purchasing two pigs for farrowing. 

Currently, the farm has nearly 40 sows made up from Hampshires, Poland Chinas, Yorkshires, and Crossbreds.    

Being passionate about raising show pigs, Loretta and Bruce have always been trying to enhance the herd genetically and helping customers to be successful at the show events. They pay close attention to growth, longevity and function of their animals.

Since 2009, the Schulz pigs have won major events like the Wisconsin State Fair Junior Show, Dodge County Fair, Green Lake County Fair, Indiana State Fair Open Show, Michigan Livestock Expo, and many more.

4. Brugger Family Show Pigs

Brugger Family Show Pigs farm in Monroe, Wisconsin, is run by the 4th generation of the family. The farm occupies nearly 1400 acres that produce crops, such as corn and soybeans, along with a trucking business. 

The Brugger Family consists of Mike, Devan, and Colton. Mike takes care of the farm’s operations and the trucking business. 

Devan and Colton have been part of the show pig business for years and began raising and selling show pigs in 2004. The herd has around 20 females, and breeds include Yorkshires, Berkshires, and Crossbreds. 

You can buy top-quality crossbred gilts and barrows from the farm. Pigs are usually pre-priced and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

5. Junghen Show Pigs

Junghen Show Pigs farm is situated in in Sharon, Wisconsin. The owners Kurt and Jenny began their journey in the show pig industry in 1995. 

Kurt grew up on his parent’s dairy farm, and he used to show livestock in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H program.

When studying the Industry Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm, Kurt learned swine artificial insemination. Soon, he started breeding and selling show pigs.   

Kurt began the show pig breeding business after purchasing a few Hampshire and Duroc gilts in the mid-1990s. Subsequently, he added Berkshire pigs to the herd in 2008. The operation has since grown to 30 sows.  

The entire present sow herd at the farm is carrying the bloodline of the original gilts purchased. The farm has genetically improved the herd by carefully selecting semen of some famous boar studs. 

The farm is known for breeding top-quality AI sires that are stout, well-muscled, healthy, and productive.

Kurt and Jenny prefer selling show pigs at the farm because it helps them develop a personal bonding with their customers.
