1. Blackwater Cattle Company

Blackwater Cattle is a registered and commercial cattle breeding operation, run under the partnership of Mike Coggins and Tracy Holbert.

Located near Lake Park, Georgia, east of Interstate 75, they produce up to 500 commercial open and bred heifers each year.

Open for public visits, the farm also runs annual sales throughout the month of November.

2021’s figures report sales of up to 210 breeding age bulls, as well as elite Brangus and ultra black females.

2. Friendship Farms

Ronnie and Carman Horton are the founders of Friendship Farms, based out of Midville, Georgia.

Since being established, Friendship Farms’ has made cattle sales to 26 different states.

The farm specializes in producing purebred Angus cattle and started out in 2009, growing to more than 400 in size. In addition to caring, raising, and taking care of their herd for sale, the farm is also actively involved in embryo transfer and donor activities.

They have a fall and a spring calving season, calving about six months out of the year.

3. Twisted W Farms

Located in Sasser, GA, Twisted W Farms provide steers and heifers for the production of quality grade meats. 

They specialize in breeding cows, bulls, and seed stock via their registered Hereford program under the guidance of Jerry Melton, farm manager, and Steve Whatley, the farm’s owner, operator, and veterinarian.

Twisted W Farms cows are bred from genetically superior seed stock influenced by the Tennessee River Music Bulls in Fort Payne, Alabama. They also breed black baldies.

Their sales pages detail the weight, fertility, milk volume, and other important breeding stats of each of their animals, as well as their herd sires and upcoming sales.

4. Turner County Stockyard

Turner County Stockyard was built in 1948 and purchased in 1960 by H.R. Wiggins and has since been in operation as a family-run business.

Since its inception, the site has grown from sales of $2 million to $30 million annually. In 2009, they became the biggest stockyard in the state (based on sales figures), selling just under 70,000 cattle.

The stockyard has continued to expand and update over the years with additional land and building purchases. 

Turner runs special breeder cattle sales regularly on Friday nights throughout the year and even streams them live at Imaauctionscom. The stockyard also has regular cattle sales every Wednesday at 1 pm.

5. Hill Vue Farm

Located in the North Georgia Mountains, Hill-Vue Farm specializes in producing Polled Herefords and Black Angus.

Their cattle are bred on grass in season and hay in winter.

With nearly 50 years of breeding experience, the farm is owned by the Bud Hill Family and operates under the management of their sons, Cooper J. Hill and Cameron S. Hill.

Their unique approach to cattle rearing ensures that their animals are not creep fed, that upon weaning they’re fed limited grain and hay, and that each animal is fully vaccinated, dewormed, weighted, and routinely tested.

Hill Vue is a big believer in line breeding and follows the lead of Graham Angus and their own 45-year plus program for their Herefords.

6. White Hawk Ranch

White Hawk Ranch is located in Buchanan, Georgia. It is owned and operated by Gary Hedrick. 

The family has been involved in the Hereford cattle industry since 1926 when Perry Hedrick (Gary’s Grandfather), purchased his first Hereford female. 

With the intense use of AI and embryo transfer, White Hawk Ranch is growing quickly. The majority of their White Hawk herd traces their roots back to Woods Domino III, a herd sire popular through Frank Felton breeding.

The mission at White Hawk Ranch is to produce disease-free cattle that come easy at birth, excel in growth, and are highly maternal. Their females fit strict criteria focused on heavy milk production, while their bulls are fed on a roughage diet to ensure good carcass traits and solid performance.

Partisover Ranch

Partisover Ranch is located in Northeast Georgia just outside of Colbert near Athens. 

They have been raising Angus cattle for the last 50 years and now have a herd that’s over 200 strong.

Owners Randy and Beth Daniel list all their bulls for sale via private treaty (available for viewing via the website), and detail the pedigree and registration numbers of all their cattle.

Each winter they expect new cows for sale from a group of 20 plus calving females.
