Goatroper Farm

Goatroper Farm is a small family-owned farm located in Roland, Pulaski County, central Arkansas. The owners of the farm are the couple Kate Finefield and Joshua Pangle.

Goatroper’s mission is to raise happy and healthy goats in a sustainable environment.

Kate worked in the wildlife biology field for nearly a decade, and now she works full-time at the farm. Joshua is a Journeyman Electrician, who works at Union Pacific Railroad. He spent his childhood in the countryside surrounded by goats.

The farm specializes in raising high-quality ADGA-approved dairy goats and produces raw goat milk and natural milk products.

Most of the goats at the farm are Nubians, Toggenburgs, Oberhaslis, and a few Boer crossbreds.

The production of goat milk is the foundation for plenty of foods that support the farm. It also increases the opportunity to sell various milk-based products.

The owners raise purebred and crossbred goats for both the show rings and milk productions. They get the herd tested annually, along with vaccination and pasteurization, and also buy other clean herds.

The farm has breeding plans for each goat breed and a purchase agreement.

Currently, the farm only allows visitors for business purposes, and not for petting goats. You can book an appointment on the farm’s website to schedule a visit.

Wholesome Hill

Wholesome Hill is a small farm located in Mountain View, north-central Arkansas. The owner is Tabatha Ann Jacobs.

Tabatha’s interest in goats began with brush-eating goats, which went on to become a lasting commitment to raising high-quality registered Boer goats.

The purpose of setting up the farm has always been to produce great quality goats and not quantity. The focus is also on turning goats into excellent show goats, but not all goats are ideal for show events.

The herd comprises 35-40 female goats, ranging from Brood Does to Grand Champion, and donor Does.

Besides registered Boers, the farm has a few Wether dams and purebred Nubian goats.

The goats the farm produces are domestic, healthy, and easygoing. Also, the raised goats are categorized based on different qualities and different functions.

The farm labels the goats for its customers as show stock versus breed stock.

The show stock consists of a small group of goats. These animals are likely to give birth to competitive offspring and the selection process is quite different.

In the show stock group, goats not only need to be correct but also “show-competitive.” Other crucial traits for selection are a calm temperament and trainability for the show events.

Show goats require a lot of investment in terms of size, structure, correctness, appearance, and extensive training.

The breed goats are selected for their ability and traits to breed, including mothering, overall health, parasite resistance, hoof growth, and temperament.

For the breeding stock, the farm focuses on conscious pairings, identifying valuable traits, and feeding them properly to make quality animals.

The farm welcomes visitors but due to Tabatha’s hectic schedule, it would be ideal if you contact them in advance to fix an appointment.
