1. Goats To Go Farm
Goats To Go is a family-owned and operated farm located at Great Rock Farm in Georgetown, Massachusetts. The owners are Maureen and Alan Aulson.
The couple loves raising goats and wants these animals to bring the same love and excitement to customers who buy them.
The farm raises Fainting Goats or “Myotonic Goats.” They are an American breed of goat with roots in Tennessee.
Fainting goats got their unique name because they carry a hereditary condition called “Myotonia Congenita,” which causes the animals to stiffen or fall over when stunned, nervous or excited.
Physically, Fainting Goats are medium-sized with an average height of 24 to 36 inches.
According to Maureen and Alan, there are several benefits of owning Fainting Goats. These goats will bring a lot of love and excitement to your home. Also, the goats can clean up weeds and poison ivy from your land or backyards.
The owners also suggest interested buyers buy at least two goats because they are herd animals and can become depressed without company.

2. Oak Hollow Livestock
Oak Hollow Livestock is also a privately owned and operated farm in western Massachusetts, situated in Shelburne Falls town. The owners of the farm are Sara and Carl Davis.
Both Sara and Carl grew up raising various types of animals on dairy farms in rural Massachusetts and have been around livestock for most of their lives.
In 2006, the couple initially founded Oak Hollow Livestock in North Central Massachusetts. Nearly a decade later, they relocated the farm to Western Massachusetts before settling in Shelburne Falls in 2019.
Sara began raising goats when she was a teenager after getting two bottle baby Oberhaslis cross goats against her family’s wish.
Later, in the late 1990s, she came to know about Boer goats and soon became the President of the Boer Goat Herd at UMass run by students. She also started her own off-campus breeding program.
Sara has also been a member of the Boer goat community and also serves as the regional director of the American Boer Goat Association for more than a decade.
Sara and Carl always make sure every goat they raise and offer for sale fulfills the expectations of its new owner and they guarantee that all the bred animals are reproductively sound.
The owners also guarantee the health of their livestock and have each tested negative for Johne’s disease, CL, and CAE/OPP within 14 days of sale.

3. Channell Homestead Family Farm
Channell Homestead farm is run by the Channell family comprising Christanie, Matt, and their son Hunter. The farm is located in Hanson town, Massachusetts.
In 2014, Christanie and Matt bought their home in Hanson, MA, and set a goal of owning a farm someday. With a fully operational homestead, their dream has eventually shaped up.
The farm breeds and sells Nigerian Dwarf Goats registered with the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA). The farm offers Bucklings and Doelings for sale.
Besides, the farm also makes various bath and body products using beeswax, and goat milk.

4. Sweet Goat Farm
Located in Westport in Massachusetts, 60 miles south of Boston, Sweet Goat Farm is a historic 300-year-old restored farmstead.
In 2011, the current owners purchased this historic Oscar Palmer Farm, which was earlier a stagecoach stop on the New Bedford/Little Compton line.
The current owners raise show-quality Nigerian Dwarf goats after they came to know about this particular breed of goat in the fall of 2009 after reading Brad Kessler’s memoir “Goat Song.”
The memoir was about purchasing an old farm in Vermont, beginning with a small dairy goat herd, and trying out cheese-making.
Inspired by the memoir, the owners purchased two pregnant Nigerian Dwarf Does in January 2010. Later, the Does gave birth to six healthy baby goats in the spring. Since then, the goat herd at the farm has grown with foundation animals.
Nigerians Dwarf goats are a dairy breed and they are gentle with a calm disposition. These goats have distinct personalities and unique voices. They even have a family hierarchy or pecking order and have tight bonding.
Baby goats are available for sale every spring/summer, and often juvenile goats or milking Does or mom goats with babies are available too.
The farm also makes various products from goat milk, including yogurt, cheese, caramels, kefir, soap, and bath products.

5. Maple Shade Farm
Maple Shade Farm, is located in Groton Town, MA. The owners of this farm are Jessica and Peter MacGregor.
Jessica was born and grew up in the western part of Massachusetts. Since her family raised goats, cattle, pigs, and chickens, she became quite attached to these animals. She also actively participated in 4H projects. At the farm, you will find her mostly in a barn, taking care of the animals.
Peter was born and grew up in Groton, with various livestock around him, including goats, cattle, horses, and chickens. He became fond of farming from a tender age and worked alongside his father on their family farm.
Peter graduated from college majoring in General Horticulture. Now, he works as a manager at a local feed store and has gained in-depth knowledge about animal husbandry and livestock nutrition.
Jessica and Peter started raising Boer goats separately in the early 2000s and later they combined their herds in 2010.
They wanted to raise the type of livestock that will optimally use the farmland. Boer Goats are perfectly fit for it, starting from companionship, to clearing the land, to showing at events.
From their experience of raising livestock, Jessica and Peter focus on breeding goats that are healthy, sound on their feet, and graze well in a pasture environment.
The selection of breeding stock of goats depends on breed type, growth rate, body conformation, maternal ability, and hardiness. The current herd comprises registered purebred, full blood, and percentage goats.
The farm breeds Does can give birth to baby goats unassisted in any weather conditions.
All the goats sold by the farm have tested negative for CAE, CL & Johne’s disease.
