The location of Piney Creek KuneKunes is in Calico Rock, Arkansas, well inside the Ozarks and on the Piney Creek banks close to the famous White River. The owners of the farm are Brenda and Charlie Eldridge, who have been breeding high-quality KuneKunes pigs here for years. 

The purpose of Brenda and Charlie to set up this farm is to protect and preserve the KuneKunes breed and raise them as breeding stock. KuneKunes are an excellent heritage breed of pigs originating from New Zealand.

Due to the friendly and docile nature of these pigs, they are gaining popularity all over the US. These are smaller grazing and multi-purpose pigs that are ideal for breeding stock, show stock, therapy animals, and pets.

2. Johnson’s Triple H Farm

Johnson’s Triple H Farm is located in Booneville, Arkansas, and is a prominent Hereford Hog Breeder.

The owners are Andra and Daniel Johnson. Andra works on the farm, and Daniel also helps in raising the pigs and with gardening. 

After starting with only three pigs, the farm has grown significantly and is now well-known in the state for selling registered piglets, both as show pigs and breed stock.

All the pigs at the farm are purebred registered Hereford Pigs and ASH certified. This means all breeding pigs are tested and confirmed negative for Brucellosis and Pseudorabies.

The Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission provides records of blood testing and lab results. 

The quality of Hereford Hogs is evident from the number of show events they won. Starting from the AR State Fair Reserve Grand Championship and Grand Champion of the South Logan County Fair Open Division in 2016 and 2017, Grand Champion Clay County Arkansas to Bacon Bit Reserve Champion Purebred Division in 2021, they have won it all.

3. Steve Cobb & Family

Steve Cobb & Family farm is located in Lake City, Arkansas. They are one of the state’s most prominent farms, breeding some of the best pigs belonging to top bloodlines.

The farm encourages people who are interested in buying high-quality breeding or show pigs to check sale offerings in person. The farm hosts “Preview Days” for prospective buyers before running auctions for selling pigs. 

The indoor facility and viewing arena of the farm create a comfortable environment for visitors to check each animal. Buyers can enter the barn to see the pigs in their pens before, during, or after the preview.

You will get sale catalogs at the farm containing lots in the order of pen number. Starting from 9:00 am central time daily the preview of sale offerings begins.

If you cannot attend the preview days, you can still visit the farm any time before the auction to check out sale offerings by appointment. You just need to provide 24-48 hour advance notice.

4. Final Drive Genetics

Final Drive Genetics is in Paragould, Arkansas, run by young couple Katie and Jordan Leatherman. along with their daughter Elliott and son Cullen.

FDG originally started in 2010 in Shipshewana, Indiana with two sows. 

Later, eight years down the line, in 2018, a herd of 50 sows relocated to Katie’s family farm in Paragould, AR. Both Katie and Jordan spent their childhood in farmhouses and grew up with livestock around.  

In the Mid 1990s and early 2000s, Jordan’s father Todd was one of the partners at the well-known farm J&K Genetics and that was how Jordan developed his passion for breeding show pigs. 

On the other hand, Katie had a pretty good show career in the ring and won several State and National Grand & Reserve. 

The backgrounds of both Katie and Jordan have ignited their passion for breeding show pigs. Through their farm, they provide genetically superior animals and help exhibitors fulfill their goals.

Since 2014, FDG has won events such as Arkansas State Fair, Texas State Fair, Reserve Champion, and Livestock shows.

5. Masters’ Polands

The Masters’ Polands farm started over half a century ago with owner Jerry Masters when he was just 12 years old. Jerry’s dream was to raise Poland China hogs, and that determined the future of Masters’ Polands.

To achieve his goal, Jerry purchased the first Poland China gilt from a 4-H project at White Cloud Farms located in Barnard, Missouri. The first litter of piglets was born on March 15, 1967.

This project eventually grew into a partnership between father and son and was renamed “Ray and Jerry Masters Poland Chinas.”

Based out of Dover, Arkansas, Master’s produces high-quality genetics and heavily structured Poland China pigs renowned for their temperament and health.
