Torpedo Farms Swine Genetics is located in Pueblo, Colorado. They started breeding hogs in 1970 with just one registered Duroc sow as part of a 4-H project.

The Mauro family has been running this farm for four generations. 

Currently, Kyle and Zack Mauro are taking care of the farm’s operations. The Mauro family’s goal has always been to be a premier breeder for show pigs in Colorado. 

Right now, out of 125 sows at the farm, you will find Yorkshire, Hampshire, Durocs, and Crossbred pigs. 

The herd at the farm comprises top-quality bloodlines. You can see pictures of some of the current and past winners over the past decade, and the current generation of the family has maintained the same consistency year in – year out.

Diamond Livestock is a family-run farm owned by Rodney and Austin Reinick. The farm has been breeding show pigs of top bloodlines since 1958.

3. Crane Show Pigs

Crane Show Pigs is located in Pritchett, Colorado. They have more than 85 replacement females and over 10 boars in stud.

The founder of the farm is Steve Crane, who set it up in 1991. Steve’s wife Christi spent her childhood around livestock in Texas working on her family’s cattle ranch.

Christi’s specialty is marketing and public relations, and her involvement with the farm has helped it transform into an expanded operation.

4. Hog Haven Farm

Based in Colorado, ​​Hog Haven Farm is a 501C3 nonprofit organization that is well-known for rescuing standard pig breeds, potbellied pigs (or mini pigs), and other breeds.

Couple Erin and Andrew have been running this rescue farm since they adopted the first pig in 2013. 

The main motivation behind setting up the farm was Erin’s long-time love of pigs. The farm was officially established in 2014. 

Since then, Erin and Andrew have worked with dedication and rescued over 350 pigs, some of which were abused, abandoned, neglected, and nearly slaughtered.

After rescuing pigs, Erin and Andrew find forever homes for potbellied pigs and arrange sanctuary for other breeds, including Yorkshire, Hampshire, and Durocs. 

The farm is mainly a plant-based sanctuary and promotes a vegan diet. The couple also provides educational support to existing/future pig owners and the general public.

6. Flatland Show Pigs

Flatland Show Pigs is located in Eastern Colorado outside Merino. The farm has been in the business of breeding pigs since 2005 when Bryan Funk began raising these animals for his children. 

In 2009, Ben Cooley joined the operation and the farm has been growing at a fast pace since then. Ben and Kelly’s children have also been instrumental in the farm’s growth.

The farm started with a few sows and now has more than 50 females comprising Yorkshires, Berkshires, Chesters, Purebred Durocs, Spots, Crossbreds, and Landraces. 

Over the years, Flatland Show Pigs has become well-known for producing top-quality show pigs and breeding stock.
