1. Windlestone Ranch

Windlestone Ranch is a family-owned farm located in Creek Hollow Brooksville, Florida.

Until recently, when Windlestone brought in a new flock of Awassi sheep, the farm solely raised and sold Dorper sheep.

All Windlestone’s livestock is fully registered, free of defects DNA-tested, and parentage tested.

The ranch is part of the Dorper Sheep Society of America as well as the Meat Sheep Alliance of Florida.

If you fancy farm tours, you can also visit the farm on an appointment-only basis.

While at the Windlestone, you may also want to check out their Black Angus bulls.

2. 5 O’clock Farm

5 O’clock Farm was created by the visionary mastermind, Mr. Fred Treadway. With the help of Stuart, Janell, and the rest of his supportive team, he has transformed what began as a tree farm into a happy home for dogs, sheep, cows, donkeys, and so many others.

Located in Wellborn, the farm rears a small herd of registered Katahdin sheep. Some of which, they sell to other breeders while the rest is reared for meat and wool.

As a registered member of the Meat Sheep Alliance of Florida, buying sheep here means you’re getting vetted quality.

The farm is closed on weekends, but you can head any other time for a farm tour. To buy sheep, you’ll want to first contact Stuart or Ricky to confirm availability. Sheep are sold year round.

3. Linden Hollow Sheep Farm

Linden Sheep Farm was established in 1998 by retired veterinarian Shery Lee. Sherry is both the owner, stock handler, and lead trainer at the farm. Her passion and 20 years of herding experience play a key role in the farm’s continued success.

Located in St Cloud, Florida, they specialize in Kahtadin and Dorper sheep breeds

In addition to livestock sales, Linden Hollow offers herding lessons on an appointment basis. The farm also hosts trials, dog training, and judging trials throughout the year.

4. Golden Acres Ranch

Golden Acres Ranch is a family-owned and operated ranch. It sits on 43 acres of land located north of the small town of Monticello, Florida.

Golden Acres Ranch breeds and raises both sheep and goats for wool, meat, and other natural fiber products. Their flocks are well-maintained, fed with natural pasture free of pesticides, and raised without hormones. 

The farm also offers pet boarding services and is open for farm tours and events throughout the year. 

Golden Acres Ranch participates in the Annual Regional Farm Tour and works with FAMU’s Statewide Sustainable Farms Program.

5. Juniper Crossing Farms

Juniper Crossing Farms is located in the community of Juniper at Southwest Gadsen county 40 minutes west of Tallahassee. The farm has been in the family since 1858.

Currently run by Amber Poucher Rabon, the farm breeds and sells miniature Harlequin sheep and Olde English Miniature Southdown Sheep (famously known as Babydoll).

Juniper Crossing Farms is the founding member of the Babydoll Southdown Sheep Breeders Association and a member of the North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association & Registry.

If buying lambs, you can request for them to be shipped at your expense. They are usually ready for delivery from 8 weeks of age.
